Youth Accord on Biodiversity

Open for signing!

2010 is the UN International Year of Biodiversity. This year will also mark the tenth meeting of the Convention of the Parties (COP10), who govern and implement the Convention on Biodiversity. Youth are invited sign the Youth Accord on Biodiversity, which among other issues, will address inland, marine and coastal waters, and will be presented at the COP10 in October 2010.

The TD Great Canadian Shoreline Cleanup

September 17 to 26, 2010: Canada-wide

A small beach cleanup by employees of the Vancouver Aquarium, in 1994, is now the 2nd largest Beach Cleanup in the world. On September 17th Roots & Shoots will be coordinating a cleanup at Budapest Park in Toronto. The Canadian Water Innovation Lab

October 21 to 24, 2010: Alberta

Hosted by Waterlution, this learning event will aid in turning your good intentions into concrete actions to protect water resources. Apply to get involved as a facilitator or a participant, and address critical issues in water resource management. Learn more

 

Maude Barlow speaking tour

Oceans Day in the Bay

Representatives from DFO Oceans and  Conservation and Protection are putting on Oceans Day activities an displays at the Huntsman Marine Science Centre. This event will be held during the first Annual St. Andrews Seafood Festival.

TD Great Canadian Shoreline Cleanup

September 19-27: Canada-wide
On September 25, Roots & Shoots hosted a cleanup at the Humber Bay shoreline in Toronto. There were over 80 participants and we collected 495 pounds of litter! Dr. Jane Goodall made a special appearance as well! Click here to read about the day's events!
