About Planet Releaf
Planet Releaf is the Roots & Shoots Canada 2010 national forest campaign.
Roots & Shoots is a program of the Jane Goodall Institute.
The purpose of Planet Releaf is to encourage Roots & Shoots groups to focus their projects on forest-related issues and take part in coordinated activities and events. In doing so, groups' projects will be united around a common theme in order to increase their impact.
This website is intended to be a hub for all things forests. We encourage Roots & Shoots members to use the site to connect with other groups and organizations working on forest issues across Canada.
Planet Releaf aims to:
|
|
Empower youth to increase awareness and understanding of how to protect our forests |
|
Four Key Activities
Specifically, the campaign will mobilize youth around:
Restoring Canada’s green spaces by planting native trees and undertaking stewardship activities
Defending forests for Canadian wildlife by learning about the issues and writing letters to key decision-makers
Promoting awareness of forest issues by requesting/attending a presentation or educational activity in their school or community
Supporting Africa’s forests, chimpanzees and communities by raising money for JGI Canada’s conservation work in Uganda
