Roots & Shoots Toronto Cleanup

As part of Project Blue, the 2009 water campaign, Roots & Shoots hosted a shoreline cleanup in Toronto on Friday September 25 (see poster).

Over 80 people gathered at the Humber Bay Shoreline to clean between Palace Pier Ct. and Park Lawn Road.

With everyone's hard work we collected a grand total of 495 lbs of litter (299 lbs of garbage, 196 lbs of recycling)!

Check out our photos on Facebook.

Following an afternoon of cleaning, Dr. Goodall congratulated everyone for their efforts and inspired continued action.

Thank you to our partners and guests for their support and for providing information about our watershed, our natural heritage, and actions we can take to keep our shorelines clean. Also, to the City of Toronto Parks, Forestry and Recreation who provided North canoes to paddle up the Humber River.

A big thank you to the large fleet of students, especially Downtown Alternative School, individuals and Roots employees who came to the shoreline to clean!
