Planet Releaf Launch
Planet Releaf is the Roots & Shoots Canada forest initiative. Throughout 2010 and beyond, members across the country will participate in our second annual national campaign.

Thank you to all who braved the cold and made it out to the offcial launch of Planet Releaf, our 2010 forest campaign!

The event highlighted a diverse range of forest issues and
grass roots initiatives, featuring:
3 short films from the documentary series Tree Stories
- Plus, Q&A with local film-maker, gardener, and community
activist, Susan Poizner
Taking Root
- Plus, Skype discussion with co-director/producer, Lisa Merton, distributed by and with kind support from Mongrel Media
- Information booths hosted by local forest related
organizations

Satellite Launches
If you were not able to attend the Toronto launch, or live in another part of Canada, you can still commemorate the launch of Planet Releaf by throwing your own Launch Party! Your event can be with your Roots & Shoots group, in your school or community, or even with a small group of friends!
Reported Launches
Our YLC member in North Vancouver, Brooke Atkinson, will be screening Taking Root at her school, Carson Graham Secondary School - our first reported satellite launch!

Here are a few ideas for your event that will be easy for you to do at home or at school:
Watch Taking Root or other forest-related films and documentaries
Get outside to discover your forests and green spaces

Make homemade crafts from material that you find on the forest floor
- Make homemade paper or a leaf collection book
- Collect some twigs or Red Osier dogwood and make picture frames and baskets
- Make your own version of Snakes and Ladders – a Roots & Shoots version! Climb up the shoots and slide down the roots
- Play charades or pictionary with creatures and objects you can find in the forest
